Coleen
Bobinac
was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Endowed with a creative gift, she
began drawing and painting soon after beginning to walk. In 1967 she was
in Europe studying the masters at the University of Rome. She returned to
the U.S. and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University
and went into the noble field of art education.
In 1984 Coleen renewed her commitment to her studio art. Working full time
in her studio, she uses the various mediums of watercolors, oils, and printmaking.
Of the three, it is through watercolors that Coleen has found she can capture
the light and shadow of her favorite subject matter, the abandoned adobe
dwellings and the ancient ruins of the Southwest.
Her watercolors bring back to life those lost cultures and allow us to see
and feel their worlds. Using strong asymmetrical compositions, and an array
of unusual format sizes, she brings us the enchantment of special places.
